Abstract:

Abstract Seasonal drought is the most important factor to limit the production of maize in the world. Using a split plot design, a two year field experiment was conducted to determine the effect of limited irrigation regime on yield, yield components and water use efficiency of sweet corn (Zea mays var. saccharata). Responses of three sweet corn varieties KSC403, Merit and Obsession to three different water regimes were studied under two planting methods (raised bed and furrow planting). The three water levels (I1: 100%, I2: 80%, I3: 60%) of the estimated crop evapotranspiration (ETc)) were arranged as main plots. Combination of the two planting methods and three sweet corn varieties were arranged in subplots. The evaluated traits were significantly affected by varieties (p

Effect of Planting Date and Sowing Methods on Ear Yield, Water Use Efficiency and Some Physiological Characteristics of Sweet Corn

In order to investigate the effect of planting date and sowing method on ear yield, water use efficiency and some physiological characteristics of sweet corn, an experiment was carried out as a split plot based on a randomized complete block design with three replications in Yasouj, south-west of Iran. Planting date consisted of five levels (4 May, 19 May, 4 June, 19 June, 5 July) and considere...

The Effect of Different Amounts of Irrigation and Planting Methods on Water Use Efficiency, Grain Yield and Some Physiological and Biochemical Traits of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

This research was conducted at the research field of West-Azerbaijan (Saatloo station, 45° 10′ 53˝ E/ 37° 44′ 18˝ N and 1338 m above sea level), located 25 km from Urmia city (Iran) during 2019-2020 cropping seasons, as a factorial layout based on randomized complete block design with three replications. The first factor was irrigation regime at three levels (supplying 100, 75 and 50% of net ir...
